Big companies hedge their risks. Now your business can too.

For US farm, ranch and small business owners.

Airlines hedge fuel. Food companies hedge crops. For decades, protecting a business from outcomes it can't control took a broker, a trading desk and an order size most owners never had.

Kalshi opens hedging up to small businesses. Pick the outcome that would hurt you, like a fuel spike, a heat wave, a new tariff or a rate hike, and take a position on it, starting at a few dollars. If it happens, the payout offsets the hit. If it doesn't, the contract expires and the good month was the point.

A California goat herder and a Maryland tea company already do it, and CNBC, Reuters and The New York Times have covered businesses hedging on Kalshi.

Kalshi is a federally regulated exchange.

Hi {{first name | there}},

This week, two conversations about turning technology into something useful, a milestone worth celebrating, and an invitation to connect beyond our usual circles.

Ted Shelton: AI needs a new org chart

AI capabilities are accelerating. Organizational change still has to get through a steering committee.

In Raymond Lee’s conversation with Ted Shelton, founder of The Collective, we explored why adopting AI means more than adding another tool to the software budget. Ted's framing: treat AI as a new category of labor, then rethink how the work gets done.

We discuss redesigning workflows, managing teams of people and AI, and preserving human judgment and accountability. Ted also explains why he launched The Collective to help organizations make that transition.

My takeaway: Start with one business outcome and a bounded workflow. Prove the value before redesigning the whole company.

Lumeria (YC S26): Bringing better measurement to skincare

Skincare involves plenty of experimentation. Measuring the results often comes down to inconsistent selfies and a hopeful "I think it's working."

At TechCrunch Disrupt, we spoke with Anthea Guo, Co-Founder and CTO, and Maryanne Alhallak, Co-Founder and CEO, of Lumeria (YC S26), about their product, Lumoscope. It combines a phone-mounted multispectral camera with software designed to help people track skin changes over time.

The founder lesson goes beyond skincare: make the customer's problem recognizable before explaining the technology. Lumeria's launch story starts with the frustration of trial and error, not a camera specification sheet.

A gift worth waiting for: For the skincare enthusiast on your Christmas list, Lumeria’s Lumoscope uses RGB, UV, and polarized-light imaging to help track skin changes over time. Pre-order for $299, and Lumeria will send a Christmas graphic you can share with your recipient while they await.

Congratulations to Krishna Gade and Fiddler AI on signing a definitive acquisition agreement with CrowdStrike

Congratulations to Krishna Gade, Co-Founder and CEO, Amit Paka, Co-Founder, and the Fiddler AI team on signing a definitive agreement to be acquired by CrowdStrike. The proposed acquisition remains subject to closing conditions.

We interviewed Krishna at AI Infra Summit just seven weeks ago. That conversation feels particularly timely now: as agents gain the ability to act across systems, enterprises need to understand what happened, why it happened, and whether the work stayed within its intended scope.

Our read: AI observability, security, and accountability are becoming increasingly connected operating problems.
